The University adheres to the Bihar Government's reservation policy. Reservation benefits (including EWS, 35% female reservation, and fee relaxation) are applicable only to candidates who are original residents of Bihar and provide a residential certificate. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in the pertinent subject, including relevant basic sciences, along with 8 years of experience in the relevant field as an Assistant Professor-cum-Junior Scientist/Scientist/Lecturer/Extension Specialist or an equivalent role in Pay Band-3 (₹15,600–39,100) with appropriate GP/AGP/RGP. Alternatively, candidates should have a doctoral degree with at least 8 years of high-quality post-doctoral research experience, evidenced by 6 publications in journals with a NAAS rating of 7.5 or higher. A basic undergraduate degree in Veterinary Science is also essential as per VCI Regulation 2016. Candidates must possess a good academic record with at least 55% marks (or a B grade in the 7-point scale) at the Master's level in the relevant subject from an Indian University or an equivalent foreign degree. NET is mandatory for candidates with a Master's degree, along with one publication in a NAAS-rated journal for disciplines where NET is required. However, candidates holding a Ph.D. completed with coursework as per UGC Regulation 2009 may be exempted from NET if they have at least two full-length publications with a NAAS rating of no less than 4 by the application deadline. Ph.D. holders without coursework are not eligible for NET exemption. Preference is given to candidates with a Ph.D. Relaxation in qualifying marks: SC/ST candidates receive a 5% relaxation (from 55% to 50%) at the Master's level. Ph.D. holders who completed their Master's degree before 19 September 1991 also receive a 5% relaxation. The available posts are across 17 departments/disciplines, including Animal Genetics and Breeding, Animal Nutrition, Livestock Farm Complex, Livestock Production Management, Livestock Product Technology, Veterinary Anatomy, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education, Veterinary Clinical Complex, Veterinary Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Microbiology, Veterinary Parasitology, Veterinary Pathology, Veterinary Pharmacology & Toxicology, Veterinary Biochemistry, Veterinary Physiology, Veterinary Public Health & Epidemiology, and Veterinary Surgery and Radiology. For specific M.V.Sc./Ph.D. specialization accepted for each department, please refer to Annexure-I (Associate Professor) and Annexure-II (Assistant Professor) in the official notification. Candidates should review the annexure relevant to their desired department before applying.

Reservation applies to candidates who are original residents of Bihar. According to the Bihar Reservation in Vacancies in Posts and Services and in Admission in Educational Institutes (For Economically Weaker Sections) Act, 2019, Clause-11, if EWS candidates are unavailable to meet the prescribed reservation percentage, those posts will be filled from the Open Merit category. 02 posts of Associate Professor and 02 posts of Assistant Professor are reserved for candidates with hearing impairments and locomotor disabilities under the Divyang category (Circular No. 962 dated 22.01.2021 and Memo No. 8962 dated 21.05.2025), applicable to original residents of Bihar. 01 post of Associate Professor and 01 post of Assistant Professor are reserved for grandchildren of freedom fighters (Circular No. 2526 dated 18.02.2016); selected candidates will be counted against the UR/reserved category they belong to. The 35% female reservation in each category only applies to original residents of Bihar, subject to submission of a residential certificate (Circular No. 12575 dated 09.07.2025).

Selection will be based on the candidate's academic and professional background (according to the prescribed scorecard) and their performance in the interview. As per Chapter-VII Note-6(iii) of the University Statute, candidates must score a minimum of 50% in the interview to be included in the merit list. For candidates from SC, ST, Divyang categories, and female candidates (regardless of category), only 32% marks are required to be considered for the merit list, as per the government directive dated 13.11.2023. Candidates must present all original certificates and documents for verification during the interview; failure to do so may result in rejection of their application. The Chairman of the Selection Committee has the discretion to determine the procedure for any matters not covered in the notification, and the Committee may establish its own evaluation method for interview performance.

Submit a completed application form along with the prescribed scorecard, indicating the page number of each supporting document. Include self-attested copies of relevant documents. Attach the Bank Draft for the application fee made out to "Finance Comptroller, Bihar Animal Sciences University, Patna". For research papers/publications, only the first page(s) showing the title, authors, date/year/acceptance of publication, and journal/publication name are required; full texts are not necessary. In-service candidates must present a No Objection Certificate (NOC) during the interview if an advance copy of the application was submitted. A residential/domicile certificate is required for candidates claiming Bihar-resident reservation benefits. A caste certificate must be submitted by candidates requesting fee relaxation under SC/ST/Divyang categories.

The specified qualifications and experience are the minimum requirements; simply meeting these does not guarantee selection. The University reserves the right to withdraw any advertised post at any time without providing a reason, to fill or not fill any or all positions, to adjust the number of posts during selection, and to publish corrections or addenda exclusively on its official website. In case of any inadvertent errors detected in the selection process after the issuance of appointment letters, the University retains the right to modify, withdraw, or cancel any communication sent to candidates. Canvassing in any form will result in disqualification. No interim inquiries regarding the test, interview, or selection will be accepted. Any disputes or legal proceedings against the University will fall under the jurisdiction of the Courts in Patna. If any documents submitted by a candidate are found to be fraudulent, or if the candidate has concealed any pertinent information, their services may be terminated along with potential legal action at any stage, including during their employment. Applications submitted after the deadline, or lacking complete information or the required fee, will be rejected outright. Selected candidates must submit a service bond on a non-judicial stamp paper of ₹1,000 at the time of joining, agreeing to serve the University for a minimum of three years (or according to existing university regulations). No requests for outside employment will be forwarded during the bond period.
