BASU Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria

The University adheres to the Bihar Government's reservation policy. Reservation benefits (including EWS, 35% female reservation, and fee relaxation) are applicable only to candidates who are original residents of Bihar and provide a residential certificate. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in the pertinent subject, including relevant basic sciences, along with 8 years of experience in the relevant field as an Assistant Professor-cum-Junior Scientist/Scientist/Lecturer/Extension Specialist or an equivalent role in Pay Band-3 (₹15,600–39,100) with appropriate GP/AGP/RGP. Alternatively, candidates should have a doctoral degree with at least 8 years of high-quality post-doctoral research experience, evidenced by 6 publications in journals with a NAAS rating of 7.5 or higher. A basic undergraduate degree in Veterinary Science is also essential as per VCI Regulation 2016. Candidates must possess a good academic record with at least 55% marks (or a B grade in the 7-point scale) at the Master's level in the relevant subject from an Indian University or an equivalent foreign degree. NET is mandatory for candidates with a Master's degree, along with one publication in a NAAS-rated journal for disciplines where NET is required. However, candidates holding a Ph.D. completed with coursework as per UGC Regulation 2009 may be exempted from NET if they have at least two full-length publications with a NAAS rating of no less than 4 by the application deadline. Ph.D. holders without coursework are not eligible for NET exemption. Preference is given to candidates with a Ph.D. Relaxation in qualifying marks: SC/ST candidates receive a 5% relaxation (from 55% to 50%) at the Master's level. Ph.D. holders who completed their Master's degree before 19 September 1991 also receive a 5% relaxation. The available posts are across 17 departments/disciplines, including Animal Genetics and Breeding, Animal Nutrition, Livestock Farm Complex, Livestock Production Management, Livestock Product Technology, Veterinary Anatomy, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education, Veterinary Clinical Complex, Veterinary Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Microbiology, Veterinary Parasitology, Veterinary Pathology, Veterinary Pharmacology & Toxicology, Veterinary Biochemistry, Veterinary Physiology, Veterinary Public Health & Epidemiology, and Veterinary Surgery and Radiology. BASU Recruitment 2026 Reservation Policy

Reservation applies to candidates who are original residents of Bihar. According to the Bihar Reservation in Vacancies in Posts and Services and in Admission in Educational Institutes (For Economically Weaker Sections) Act, 2019, Clause-11, if EWS candidates are unavailable to meet the prescribed reservation percentage, those posts will be filled from the Open Merit category. 02 posts of Associate Professor and 02 posts of Assistant Professor are reserved for candidates with hearing impairments and locomotor disabilities under the Divyang category (Circular No. 962 dated 22.01.2021 and Memo No. 8962 dated 21.05.2025), applicable to original residents of Bihar. 01 post of Associate Professor and 01 post of Assistant Professor are reserved for grandchildren of freedom fighters (Circular No. 2526 dated 18.02.2016); selected candidates will be counted against the UR/reserved category they belong to. The 35% female reservation in each category only applies to original residents of Bihar, subject to submission of a residential certificate (Circular No. 12575 dated 09.07.2025).
