Candidates equal to 6 times the number of vacancies (category-wise, based on merit in the written exam) will be shortlisted and called for interview. This ratio may be reduced if a sufficient number of qualified candidates are not available for a category. The interview carries 50 marks. Marks obtained in the interview are added to the written exam score to prepare the final merit list. Conducted as per Rule 8(4) of the Bihar Forest Range Officer Cadre (Recruitment and Service Conditions) Rules, 2013, for candidates called for interview: Candidates who fail the Physical Efficiency Test will not be recommended for appointment, irrespective of their marks in the written exam and interview. Candidates who clear the Physical Efficiency Test undergo a medical examination by a medical team constituted by the Commission. Selected candidates must be fully fit mentally and physically, free from any physical defect that could hinder efficient discharge of duties. As per the notification, a person with one eye will not be recommended for appointment. The merit list is prepared category-wise based on combined marks of the written exam and interview. If two or more candidates score equal marks, preference goes to the candidate older in age (based on date of birth). If age is also the same, preference is given based on higher educational qualification. If still tied, preference follows the English alphabetical order of the candidate's name as per the 10th board certificate.

Eligibility Criteria for BPSSC Forest Range Officer

Candidates must be Indian citizens. Male, Female, and Third Gender candidates are eligible to apply. A candidate must hold at least one of the following: A Bachelor's degree with at least one subject from: Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or Zoology, from a recognized university, OR A Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry, or Engineering from a recognized university or equivalent institution. Age is calculated based on the date of birth recorded in the Matriculation (10th) or equivalent certificate. Bihar government employees: 5 years' relaxation in maximum age limit for those who have completed a minimum of 3 years of regular service, for appearing in competitive exams to move to a higher pay scale/cadre. Ex-servicemen (for civil posts): 3 years' relaxation plus relaxation equal to the length of defence service, provided actual age does not exceed 57 years as on the cut-off date. A minimum expansion of 5 cm is mandatory. There is no chest measurement requirement for female candidates. For Third Gender (Kinnar/Kothi/Hijra/Transgender) candidates, the physical standards and Physical Efficiency Test criteria are the same as prescribed for the BC category.

Salary / Pay Scale

The selected Forest Range Officer will be placed at Pay Level-6 (Rs. 35,400 - Rs. 1,12,400) as per the 7th Pay Commission matrix. The notification does not specify a separate in-hand or gross salary figure including allowances.
