Indian Army SSC (Tech)-68 Men Recruitment 2026: Notification, Eligibility, Dates, Salary

A citizen of India, or A subject of Nepal, or A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia) and Vietnam, with the intention of permanently settling in India, provided a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India (not required for Gorkha subjects of Nepal). Open only to unmarried male candidates. Candidates must not marry until they complete the full training at the Officers Training Academy. Marrying during training or after applying (before joining) leads to cancellation/discharge. Candidates must be between 20 and 27 years as on 01 Apr 2027, i.e., born between 01 Apr 2000 and 31 Mar 2007 (both dates inclusive). Only the date of birth recorded in the Matriculation/Secondary School Examination Certificate (or equivalent) is accepted. No other document for age proof is accepted, and no request for change of recorded date of birth is considered later.

Candidates who have passed the required engineering degree , or are in the final year of an engineering degree course in a notified stream, are eligible to apply. Final-year candidates must be able to submit proof of passing the engineering degree examination, along with marksheets of all semesters/years, by 01 April 2027 , and produce the degree certificate within 12 weeks from the start of PCTA training. Candidates whose final year/final semester result is declared after 29 March 2027 are not eligible to apply for this course. Final-year candidates are provisionally allowed to appear for the SSB if their cumulative percentage of marks up to the 6th semester/3rd year (Engineering), 8th semester/4th year (B.Arch), or 2nd semester/1st year (M.Sc in a notified equivalent stream) is not below the approved cut-off percentage for their stream. After final results are declared, the cumulative percentage up to the final semester/year must also not fall below the approved cut-off, or the candidature will be cancelled. The degree must be from a university/institution recognized by an Act of Parliament/State Legislature or deemed university under UGC Act 1956, IIT Act 1961, AICTE Act 1987, NITSER Act 2007, or IIIT Act 2024. Degrees from foreign universities are not accepted .

The Indian Army SSC (Tech)-68 Men selection follows this sequence: Application > Shortlisting > SSB > Medical Examination > Merit List > Joining Letter Applications are shortlisted stream-wise based on the vacancy-to-call-up ratio and the cumulative percentage of marks obtained up to the final semester/year, without the Army being required to state a reason. The shortlisting cut-off percentage is expected to be published in the first week of September 2026 . After shortlisting, candidates log in to the website to select their SSB dates and centre on a first-come, first-served basis. Once selected, the centre and date generally cannot be changed. This window is expected to open for two weeks in September 2026 . Shortlisted candidates are called to one of four Selection Centres: Prayagraj (UP), Bhopal (MP), Bengaluru (Karnataka), and Jalandhar (Punjab) . The SSB is a two-stage process. Candidates who clear Stage-1 proceed to Stage-2; those who do not clear Stage-1 are sent back the same day. The SSB interview lasts up to five days , likely held between October and December 2026 . Candidates recommended after Stage-2 undergo a medical examination. Medical standards and examination procedures are detailed on www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. The SSB medical examination is valid for 270 days from the Special Medical Board (SMB) date to the PCTA joining date. Candidates already declared "Medically Fit" in a prior SSB medical (within the 270-day validity relative to 01 Apr 2027) need not undergo the medical again. Qualifying the SSB interview alone does not confirm final selection. A stream-wise merit list is prepared based on SSB interview marks. In case of a tie in SSB marks, the older candidate is ranked higher; if age is also equal, the candidate with a higher percentage in the qualifying degree is ranked higher. Higher educational qualifications or past performance play no role in merit ranking.

Training Academy: Officers Training Academy (OTA), Gaya, Bihar Duration: 49 weeks, from April 2027 to March 2028 Stipend during training: ₹56,100 per month (equal to the starting pay in Level-10 of the pay matrix) Rank on commissioning: Lieutenant, granted Short Service Commission on probation from the course start date or PCTA reporting date, whichever is later Ante-date seniority: One year ante-date seniority is granted from the date of commission Academic award: On successful completion of training, candidates are awarded a "Post Graduate Diploma in Military Studies & Defence Management" by Magadh University, Bodh Gaya Marriage restriction: Not permitted to marry during training; violation leads to discharge and recovery of expenses Cost of training recovery: If an Officer Cadet resigns/withdraws from training for reasons other than medical grounds, the cost of training (₹20,482.40 per week for the 01 Jul 2026–30 Jun 2027 period, as revised from time to time) must be refunded

Military Service Pay (MSP): ₹15,500 per month (fixed) for Lieutenant to Brigadier Dearness Allowance: As applicable to civilian personnel, revised periodically Technical Allowance: ₹3,000/month (Tier-I) or ₹4,500/month (Tier-II) Dress Allowance: ₹20,000 per year Transport Allowance: ₹7,200/month + DA (higher TPTA cities) or ₹3,600/month + DA (other places), for Pay Level 10 and above Children Education Allowance: ₹2,250/month per child (for two eldest surviving children, Nursery to Class 12) Hostel Subsidy: As per the notification (for two eldest surviving children, Nursery to Class 12) Field Area / Hardship Allowances: Applicable depending on rank and posting location, as detailed in the notification Army Group Insurance (AGIF): Cadets in receipt of stipend are insured for ₹1.25 crore, with a monthly subscription of ₹12,500

Candidates must carry self-attested copies along with original documents to the Selection Centre. DigiLocker certificates are not accepted in place of originals unless accompanied by an authentication letter from the institution confirming only e-certificates were issued. One signed printout of the application form with a self-attested photograph affixed Matriculation/Secondary School Examination Certificate (or equivalent) and marksheet — the only accepted proof of date of birth and parents' names 12th class marksheet and certificate, or Diploma marksheet and certificate (for Diploma holders) Engineering Degree/Provisional Degree certificate issued by a recognized university (Provisional Degree must not be more than 6 months old at the time of joining the Academy) Marksheets of all semesters/years Certificate from the university's Controller of Examination/Registrar regarding the CGPA-to-percentage conversion formula Certificate confirming cumulative percentage up to the relevant semester/year (for final-year appearing candidates) Certificate from the Principal/Head of Institution confirming the candidate is in the final year and the result will be declared by 01 April 2027 Declaration by final-year candidates that they will submit proof of passing along with all marksheets by 01 April 2027 Documents related to civil/character verification An affidavit is required if there is any variation between the candidate's name/parents' names on educational documents and the online application

Any mismatch between the engineering stream on the degree certificate/marksheet and the stream selected in the online application will result in cancellation of candidature. Any variation in the candidate's name or parents' names between educational documents and the application requires an affidavit explaining the variation. CGPA/Grades must be converted to marks using the formula adopted by the candidate's own university before filling in "Marks obtained in Graduation." Only one online application is allowed per candidate; multiple applications result in cancellation. Candidates already serving in the Armed Forces must inform their Commanding Officer in writing about applying, and their application must be countersigned by the Commanding Officer. Candidates who have ever been debarred by UPSC from any examination are not eligible. Candidates arrested, convicted by a criminal court, or involved in a criminal case are not eligible; discovery of such facts at any stage leads to cancellation/withdrawal. Candidates withdrawn from NDA, IMA, OTA, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, or any service training academy on disciplinary grounds are not eligible to apply. Requests for change of SSB interview date or centre will not be entertained or replied to. The notification is published in Hindi and English; in case of any discrepancy, the English version prevails .

Candidates appearing for the SSB interview for the first time for this type of commission are entitled to AC-3 Tier railway fare (or equivalent bus fare, including reservation/sleeper charges) within Indian limits, for to-and-fro travel. Candidates reappearing for the same type of commission are not entitled to travelling allowance on subsequent occasions.
