Scores across different shifts will be normalised using a published formula available on the JSSC website. The Preliminary Exam includes a single paper with 120 multiple-choice questions (3 marks for each correct answer) and lasts 2 hours, with 1 mark deducted for each incorrect answer. The paper will cover: Minimum qualifying marks in the Preliminary Exam: Candidates passing the Preliminary Exam will be shortlisted for the Main Exam in a ratio of 15 times the number of vacancies (category-wise). Troubleshooting and Common Mistakes to Avoid
Many candidates make common mistakes during the JSSC JILCCE 2026 application process. Here are some pitfalls to avoid: Entering a name that differs from the Matriculation certificate: The name in the application must exactly match your Class 10 certificate/marksheet - character for character. Do not include prefixes like "Shri," "Mr.," or "Smt." in the name field. Incorrect date of birth entry: Enter the exact date, month, and year as recorded in your Matriculation certificate, as no other document is accepted for DOB proof. Claiming a concessional fee without being SC/ST of Jharkhand: Candidates from categories other than Jharkhand SC/ST who claim the ₹50 concession will have their applications cancelled. If you belong to OBC, EWS, or General, pay ₹100. Submitting multiple applications: If you submit more than one application, only the most recently submitted one will be considered valid, and all previous applications will be cancelled - with no refund available. Submit once, carefully. Not saving each page before moving on: The application spans multiple pages. You must click "Save and Continue" on each page before proceeding. Incomplete applications will be rejected. Missing the fee payment deadline (20 August 2026): Registration concludes on 19 August, but fee payment and photo/signature uploads can be done until midnight on 20 August. Many candidates overlook this distinction and lose their fee without completing the application. Uploading the wrong photo format: The photo must be passport-size (2.5 × 3.5 inches), with 80% of the face visible including ears. Background should be plain; glasses are not permitted. Photo format issues may lead to application rejection. Using incorrect formats for caste/income/residence certificates: The brochure includes Appendix I through XI specifying the required formats. Certificates not in the prescribed format - even if issued by the correct authority - will not be accepted. Certificates issued before the specified dates: Local resident certificates issued before 02 June 2016 are invalid. Caste certificates from Anchal officer-level authorities issued before 25 February 2019 are also invalid. Verify the dates on your documents before applying. Not retaining a printout after submission: The admit card will only be available for download from the JSSC website. Keep your application printout and bank challan/payment receipt secure for future reference.
