KREIS Teacher Recruitment 2026: Eligibility Criteria

Candidate must be an Indian citizen. Candidate must be mentally and physically fit to discharge the duties of the post. A male candidate with more than one living spouse, and a female candidate married to such a person, is not eligible for appointment unless specifically exempted by the government.

KREIS Teacher Educational Qualification (Subject-wise)

Kannada Language Teachers: Graduation with Kannada as an optional subject in the Arts stream from a recognized university, or the four-year "Kannada Pandith" course from the Karnataka State Pre-University Education Board, together with a Kannada B.Ed. degree; or a Bachelor's degree with Kannada as an optional subject plus a postgraduate degree in Kannada. English Language Teachers: Graduation with English as an optional subject in the Arts stream, or a postgraduate diploma in English from a Regional Institute of English in South India, together with a B.Ed. with English as the primary method subject; or a postgraduate degree in English with Kannada studied as one subject up to degree/PUC/SSLC level, or a Karnataka Pre-University Education Board/Kannada Sahitya Parishat Kannada proficiency certificate (Kaav/Jaan/Ratna), or a Diploma in Kannada. Hindi Language Teachers: Graduation with Hindi as an optional subject and a B.Ed. degree; or a postgraduate/graduate degree with Hindi as the major subject along with a B.Ed. with Hindi as method subject, in addition to a Kannada language proficiency requirement (Kaav/Jaan/Ratna certificate from the Karnataka Pradha and Praudha Shikshana Parishad/Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Bengaluru, or Kannada studied as a subject up to degree/PUC/SSLC level, or a Diploma in Kannada). Mathematics Teachers: Graduation in Science with Mathematics and Physics as combined subjects, with one additional optional subject (e.g., Chemistry), together with a B.Ed. in the Science method; along with the same Kannada proficiency requirement as above. Science Teachers: Graduation in Science with Chemistry as a combined subject along with one of Botany/Zoology/Biology as an additional optional subject, together with a B.Ed. in the Science method; along with the Kannada proficiency requirement as above. Social Science Teachers: Graduation with any two of History, Economics, Political Science, Sociology and Geography as optional subjects in the Arts stream, together with a B.Ed. in the Arts method; along with the Kannada proficiency requirement as above. Note: Candidates applying for Social Science Teacher posts must have studied in the English medium, since instruction for this subject in the residential schools is in English medium. Computer Science Teachers (RPC cadre only): Graduation in Engineering/Technology with Computer Science, Information Science, Instrumentation, Electronics & Communication, or Agriculture (B.Sc.) related discipline, or a Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), or B.Sc. with Computer Science and equivalent current qualification, together with a B.Ed. degree with Kannada studied as a subject at degree/PUC/SSLC level, or the diploma/proficiency test alternatives noted above. Physical Education Teachers: A recognized university degree together with a Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed.) degree; along with the Kannada proficiency requirement as above. KREIS Teacher Kannada Language Test

Candidates who have not studied Kannada as a first or second language up to SSLC level, or an equivalent level recognized by the state government, or who have not passed a Kannada test conducted by a competent authority, will be required to appear for a qualifying Kannada Language Test after the main exam. This test carries 150 marks, and candidates must secure a minimum of 50 marks to qualify; marks scored are not counted in the final merit list, and candidates scoring below the minimum become ineligible for appointment.

KREIS Teacher Important Instructions

Applications can be submitted online only; no offline or postal applications will be accepted. Only one online application can be submitted per post; no modification, addition or correction is permitted after submission under any circumstances. Candidates must ensure all eligibility-related information is filled in correctly before final submission; incomplete or incorrect information can lead to rejection at any stage, even after appointment. Candidates must download and carry the admit card along with one original photo ID proof (PAN card, driving licence, Aadhaar card, passport, voter ID, or government employee ID) to the exam centre; entry without ID proof will not be permitted.
