Candidates wondering about eligibility can note that all three posts require a Ph.D. in the relevant subject area with at least 60% marks (or equivalent) at the Master's level, but differ in the years of post-Ph.D. research experience required. UM-DAE CEBS follows 7th CPC academic pay scales applicable to Central Government-aided institutions. All faculty members are also entitled to Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Transport Allowance, Children's Education Allowance, Pension Scheme, and Leave Travel Concession (LTC) as admissible for Central Government employees. Additionally, faculty members are eligible for a Contributory Health Service Scheme (CHSS) as per DAE norms.

Shortlisting and selection at UM-DAE CEBS is merit-based, driven by the quality of publications, research proposal, and letters of recommendation - not just degree qualifications. The process runs in two rounds before final appointment. Step 1 - Application Screening: A Screening Committee reviews applications based on peer-reviewed publications, research proposal quality, relevant experience, and recommendation letters. Fulfilling minimum qualifications alone does not guarantee a call for interview. Step 2 - Job Talk (Round 1): Shortlisted candidates are invited for an in-person job talk before the Selection Committee. Video-conference is available only for candidates based outside India who cannot attend in person. A separate merit list is created for each post code. Step 3 - Final Interview (Round 2): Based on job talk performance, a limited number of candidates are invited for a second in-person interview before the Final Selection Committee. Video-conference is again available only for overseas-based candidates. Travel Reimbursement: Candidates attending the final interview in India are reimbursed a maximum 2-tier AC train fare (or equivalent) via the shortest route from their place of residence to Mumbai and back. Daily allowance and local travel are not covered. Step 4 - Appointment: Initial appointment is for 5 years (including a 1-year probation period ). After a review, confirmed employees continue until superannuation at age 62 , extendable to 65 by the Governing Council.

These are practical pitfalls that applicants frequently encounter - not mentioned in the official notice - based on the application requirements: 1. Applying without converting CGPA to percentage: Many candidates submit mark sheets showing grades or CGPA without attaching the university's official conversion norms. This can result in outright rejection. Always include the back of your original transcript or the official conversion table from your university. 2. Sending recommendation letters through the candidate's email: All three recommendation letters must be sent directly by the referees themselves to [email protected] - not via the candidate. Letters forwarded by the candidate will not be considered confidential. 3. Incorrect subject line in the recommendation email: Referees must use the exact format - Recommendation Letter for [Full Name], [Post Code] - in the subject line. An incorrect or missing post code can lead to the letter being misattributed or lost. 4. Missing the hard copy deadline: Many applicants focus only on the online form and overlook the physical hard copy requirement. Both must reach UM-DAE CEBS by July 15, 2026. Factor in postal transit time, especially for international applicants. 6. PDF exceeding 10 MB: The online data form accepts a single PDF of all documents with a 10 MB size cap. Compress images and scan documents at moderate resolution (150-200 DPI) to keep file size within limits. 7. Applying for multiple post codes without separate applications: While a candidate may apply for more than one post within the same School, each application must be submitted separately with the correct post code. 8. Omitting the Research Proposal or Teaching Proposal: These are explicitly required documents. Submitting a CV without these will render the application incomplete and liable for rejection.
