Who Can Apply? - NIACL Apprentice 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Understanding the eligibility criteria is the first and most critical step before applying. Here is a detailed breakdown of all conditions you must satisfy. All applicants must be citizens of India . Candidates must hold a graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government. Crucially, the final year mark sheet date must fall between January 1, 2022 and June 1, 2026 (both dates inclusive). Graduates who passed before January 1, 2022, or after June 1, 2026, are not eligible . Candidates must not have previously undergone apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act 1961 - either with NIACL or any other organization. Candidates currently pursuing an apprenticeship anywhere are also ineligible. Candidates with one or more years of job experience after graduation are not eligible. Special Guidelines for Reserved Category Candidates
Certain candidate groups have specific rules they must be aware of before applying. Only Non-Creamy Layer OBC candidates are entitled to OBC reservation benefits. Creamy layer OBC candidates must apply under the General (Unreserved) category and meet General category age criteria. An undertaking regarding non-creamy layer status must be submitted at the time of fee payment. Candidates must produce an Income and Asset Certificate for financial year 2025–26, issued by a competent authority after March 31, 2026. Gross annual family income must be below ₹8 lakh , and the family must not own 5+ acres of agricultural land, 1000+ sq. ft. residential flat, or qualifying residential plots. Minimum disability of 40% is required for reservation benefits. Eligible disability types: Visual Impairment (VI), Hearing Impairment (HI), Locomotor/Orthopedic (OH), Intellectual/Autism (ID), Multiple Disabilities (MD). PwBD candidates using a scribe get 20 minutes of compensatory time per hour . The scribe must not be a co-applicant for the same exam and cannot serve as scribe for more than one candidate.
