Common Mistakes to Avoid
Many eligible Ex-servicemen miss out or get disqualified due to avoidable errors. Based on the notification's requirements, here are the key pitfalls to watch out for: Applying after 5 years of discharge: The notification clearly states applicants must not have been discharged from service for more than 5 years. If you were discharged before 1 July 2021, you are not eligible. Wrong branch for the post: Each post requires a specific branch background — for example, Engine Driver needs Engineering/Electrical branch, while Master needs Seaman branch MCPO/CPO rank. Applying for a mismatched post leads to rejection. Not carrying original documents to the venue: Only self-attested copies are not sufficient. Originals must also be presented at the time of recruitment on 6th/7th July 2026. Forgetting the pension bank passbook: The original bank passbook where pension is credited is a mandatory document. Not having it at the venue can disqualify your candidature. Incorrect course grading: Master, Engine Driver, and Syrang posts require Grade-I. Candidates with only Grade-II are not eligible for these posts (only Dingy Driver and Seaman Mechanic accept Grade-II). Sending applications to the wrong address: Applications must reach the O/o Addl. DG of Police, Railways and Coastal Security, Odisha, Bhubaneswar. Applications sent elsewhere will not be considered. Not appearing at the venue on time: The recruitment starts at 09:00 AM. Arriving late may mean you miss your slot. Plan travel well in advance — Bhubaneswar railway station is the nearest rail access point.
