POWERGRID Engineer Trainee Recruitment 2027 Through GATE 2027

POWERGRID, a 'Maharatna' Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, is preparing to recruit fresh engineering graduates as Engineer Trainees in various disciplines including Electrical, Civil, Computer Science, and Electronics. This recruitment will be conducted through the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027. While the exact number of vacancies is yet to be announced, candidates should note that the application process for GATE 2027 opened on 2 September 2026 and will close on 27 September 2026 for regular registration. POWERGRID's own application window is expected to start around March or April 2027. Selected candidates will be posted across India, mostly at on-site locations, and may be required to relocate within the country or even abroad. The current advertisement serves as an advance notification of the detailed recruitment process.

To be eligible for the Engineer Trainee posts, you must have completed a full-time Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc Engg.) in one of the specified disciplines with at least 60% marks or an equivalent CGPA. Your degree should match the notified streams: Electrical (including Power Systems and related branches), Civil, Computer Science, or Electronics and Communications. Additionally, you need to have qualified the corresponding GATE 2027 paper for your discipline. The upper age limit is 28 years as of 31 March 2027, with age relaxations available for reserved categories as per government norms. SC/ST candidates get 5 years, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates get 3 years of relaxation, and persons with benchmark disabilities have further age concessions.
